"ART"

No one has a clear view on what Art may mean. To some Art is like a type of religion; it is spiritual, meaningful, and powerful. People pay attention to what is “beyond” the picture. It is also a type of culture/custom and is what brings together and sets aside the differences of each culture. Art is an expression; your feelings and mood are what you paint or envision. For example they say when you’re angry you may see the color red, or when you’re sad you may see the color blue, etc. Art can be expressed as how you feel, and are. Though I feel that art can help better or educate young kids, society feels that art in America is dying out. Not because of its need of funding but because of societies lack of taste. Many people feel the same way about art as much as others do. However, because taste is different between each person, the government should not have to fund art, and force its tastes on people who do not feel the same way with art as others do. Slowly but surely art programs are being taken away from students and being placed with subjects such as: history, math, etc. It is our jobs as students to keep the ART ALIVE.

Where's my MONEY?!

Recently New York State has felt the bid of the recession and bad economy in a late matter. Universities, state jobs, retail, etc. have had budget cuts and have reaped no type of benefit with its happening. Office hours will now need to be shortened, half of staff need to be cut, and full amenities can longer be used. The CUNY Board of Trustees has raised their tuition up 100 plus dollars and are looking to raise it up once more for its universities and schools. It has come to reality that we no longer have money to spend but need money to spend. We can only question as a society on where has our money gone, and what is being done with it.

Tick Tock..

Time is the most expensive gift society doesn’t even pay for. We have 24 hours in a day, 7 days in a week, and 52 weeks in a year, yet we no longer have time to do things that are most important for us. It seems as though the longer the day feels the less time we have. We either want time to go by faster or for it to go slower, but as of lately there seems to not be enough time in a day. Days are now going by in lightning speed, deadlines are now getting closer, and time is now getting shorter. Our hectic days can no longer be stretched, our “beauty” naps are no longer than one hour without feeling as if were losing our “beauty” and our day. Both the little and big hand on the clock seem as if their always spinning no longer ticking after each second. Nowadays, as much as people are working 8 hour days, society dreams of having the perfect 27 hours in a day. The more time given, the more time taken.

YOUTH

Youth where art though? The youth of today seem to not understand that they are today's future. We now have the younger generation caring less and less about the most important things in life like: Education, Career, Family etc. Nowadays you may see kids, teens, and young adults daily on the street doing nothing to better their lives. Their either partying, getting drunk, doing and/or selling drugs, and always up to no good. It is important for the younger generation to know that they govern how the "world" will look in the next ten years. Our decisions are in their hands, actions, and beliefs. If they choose not to better themselves for everyone else, whose hands do we determine our future with next? We only hope that this generation will pick the pieces back up and wake up to successfully continue real world needs; and also be able to better their own actions.

Lyrics of Life

What would you do if life was controlled by lyrics? It seems nowadays, society relates the lyrics to a song to their own lives then they do each other. People find that whole songs or verses and/or lines are the same as their current situations; and no matter the emotion there's a song for that. Music is the most important thing to many people. It can help define a persons life, and can be a person's companion. Music and its lyrics can be used to describe almost all situations in life, and almost every song has a meaning that can be related to some part of a person's life. So next time your feeling down, find a song and it'll sure to either cheer you up or make you feel as though someone is in the same boat as you.
